World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week.
Wholly smokes, guys! It’s been almost a month since my last post. I apologize! The month truly escaped me.
Today’s post is all about the World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week. I was privileged to be able to see four terrific runway shows by some truly wonderful Canadian talent; Melissa Nepton, Hayley Elsaesser, Mackage, and Rudsak. Busy three days, that’s for sure! Here are some of the shots from the shows:
So, as you guys know, I am not a “Fashion Blogger” so I am not going to talk about the shows (though they gave me some great inspiration and super excited for fall/winter 2015), instead, of course, I am going to talk about one of my outfits that I wore to the shows!
As I found out very early on, WMCFW is all about being seen. It can be overwhelming, especially when high fashion is concerned. But, don’t let that intimidate you, all you thrifty, secondhand shoppers- I guarantee you can still look like a million dollars for a fraction of that. Take a peak below at my look from Wednesday night:
Coat: My mother KNIT this coat in the 80’s. I AM NOT EVEN JOKING. If I had an ounce of her sewing/knitting talent, I swear I’d be one happy girl. But, I’ll take her hand-me-downs any day! It is a one of a kind hand knit item that I cherish.
Top: This one was a splurge guys. Remember how I said I don’t always shop secondhand? This is one of those times. This top was a bit pricey, but I fell in love with it in Montreal when I was there last weekend; it’s from Simons and the brand is Mustard Seed. I know I will get a lot of use out of it and so, to me, worth the extra pennies.
Skirt: This skirt is one of those items that I cannot believe I found and I consider it a treasure. It’s a polyester skirt, ball gown flare, and the brand is one+one (made in Canada, to go with the WMCFW theme 😉 ) I got it for .99 cents at Salvation Army.
Shoes: These guys are from Winners. The brand is Guess. Mega sale, so I also bought them in pink.
Purse: Well, it’s another splurge. But! This clutch is now, oh, 4 years old or so and it’s a constant conversation starter. It looks and feels like a newspaper and it’s one of my faves. Kate Spade.
Earrings: Another vintage find from my mom’s closet!
And there you go, everyone! I put together a great WMCFW look by combining some secondhand pieces with a few current ones, and though there were a couple splurges, they are pieces that will be in my closet for many years to come and that are very versatile.
